The national government established that to renew the driver's license, two basic requirements must be met. Additionally, it is necessary to carry out additional procedures, which include a road safety talk and the payment of documents. Both the National Traffic Law and local regulations impose limitations related to age and health, not only for those wishing to obtain the license for the first time but also for those seeking to renew it.
The Government Chief of the City of Buenos Aires outlined the necessary documents for the renewal of the license. Besides the valid DNI with updated information, in cases of illness with treatment, a specialist medical certificate and studies are required. In situations of information or DNI change, the current and previous documents must be presented to confirm identity and proceed with the new registration.
Among the mandatory documents, a clearance certificate for infractions, a certificate of participation in the renewal talk, criminal records (for professionals), the CENAT receipt, and the Smart Unique Receipt, valid for 60 days from the payment, are included. The steps to follow for renewal are: pay pending infractions, conduct the online road safety talk, pay the CENAT and BUI receipt, request an appointment, and complete the physical exams at the selected location.
In case of having any impediment such as hearing or vision problems, it is required to bring necessary glasses or carry out the management at specific locations designated for each particular limitation.
